EBook Reader Review - Finding The Perfect Reader From The Top Most Models Offered

eBook readers have revolutionized the way people gather and view books, magazines and news. In this post I dig into the top ebook readers available on the market today.

There are a variety of criteria shoppers should study when you review ebook readers. Among the top features to consider are screen size, screen type, battery longevity, recharge time, storage space, weight, device size, wireless capabilities, and file formats recognized.

In my analysis, I take into account the Amazon Kindle 2 and Kindle DX, the Barnes and Noble Nook, Sony's Reader Touch PRS-600 and PRS-700, and Astak's EZ Readers. There are several others, and we will review those in time, but my aim is to show the reader a small sample with an explanation of capability comparisons so that they can join the market armed with some basic knowledge about ebook readers.

In my opinion, capabilities like the touchscreen, screen size and form and wireless capabilities should be your primary consideration when looking at eBook reader models. The next thing to analyze is the fact that some of the eBook readers have hundreds of thousands of titles available while other readers can only support a a small number of books. If the above criteria meet with your standards, then you should ultimately mull over price and technical support.

The Kindle and Sony offerings are rated very well by many online sources. The mixture of features on these models plus the moderate price point makes them engaging models. All readers showcase the E-Ink screen. Only the Kindle and a single Atsak model feature "text-to-speech" to allow the appliance to read to you. The Sony models have a touch screen for a better interactive user experience. All models feature a healthy approximately 2 week battery life with different charging times, but most are close to 3 or 4 hours. There are slight variances in the file formats that each ebook model will accept.
