Here Is A Fun Halloween Project For Kids - Crazy Spiders
Here is probably one of my most wanted Halloween crafts for kids. It is fast and easy, could be accomplished with a crowd if needed, and also is an excellent technique to practice cutting and fine motor skills with younger children. Older children will be able to allow their creativity take over and make some truly wacky Halloween spiders!
What you'll need:
Black paper
Scissors
Glue or sticky-tape
Funny eyes (optional) or bits of paper and pens
Instructions:
Cut out a rectangle of construction paper just about 3 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Tuck the short side down almost an inch to fashion a pleat, and unfold it up again.
Turn the paper so that the pleat is horizontal, then cut the paper in 7 even lines up to the pleat to make the 8 spider's legs. When working with smaller children, pencil in the lines for them to practice cutting on. When working with bigger kids, demonstrate to them how to create the first cut at the middle, dividing the area beneath the fold into two halves. Next demonstrate to them how to divide up each half again to produce quarters, then the quarters making eighths. There is certainly no need be overly exact.
Now put the spider around the child's finger and fasten with sticky-tape or glue. Detach the spider once more and garnish - either with bits of paper or else with googly eyes. Position the spider back on the finger and twist the legs into shape or you could coil them around a pencil.
A few other options:
Dangle the spiders! Merely cut a length of black yarn (wool) and connect inside the head of the spider with a small bit of sticky-tape.
Build littler variations of these spiders to go on the ends of Halloween pencils.
Put small spiders around straws to adorn your Halloween table! Craft a few larger spiders and then place them around the table too.
Cut a small slit on either side of the spider's head and include a name card turning these spiders into eerie place markers!
When the body of the spider is made but also before decorating, place a black pipe cleaner round the head of the spider creating a furry look. The extending tip of the pipe cleaner can be arched into a hook shape, which makes the spider painless to dangle from shelving, doorways, and any number of spooky locations! Stick googly eyes on top of the pipe cleaner.
